About Us

Kelly Mager

After moving to the area and having kids, it took Kelly a long time to find infant/toddler-friendly activities to get out of the house. That frustration led her to build a system for it. The desire to serve and connect others with that knowledge led her to the creation of Mini Mischief Managed, in 2019: a community website for parents with at least one child under age 5.

Kelly's kids are now older, and her interest in knowing more about all activities in the county has grown. But she knew others were still looking for the same information she was. Was there a way to take the Mini Mischief Managed concept and include everything in Kosciusko?

After being introduced to Joel Widman and discussing options, they realized that yes, it could be done. And they would be the ones to do it.

Our Motivation

Kosciusko County has so many hidden gems, so we thought we'd bring them to light and show them off. Small towns don't have to be boring. Like anything, it's what you make of it. Make the most of your town by engaging in it and getting involved. You have so much to offer and it has so much to offer you!

Both Kelly and I (Joel) know what it's like to wake up on a Saturday morning and be like, "All right kids, what do you want to do today?" Then each of our families spends the next two hours trying to find something interesting, and by the time we've decided what we want to do, it's time for a snack and a nap. KCountyEvents was developed to help families (and individuals) find events they can enjoy with people they love!

Why is it free?

Currently, the Main Calendar on the Home page is free. How can we do this? Although it costs us money to run this website (marketing, website and domain hosting, email marketing software, automation software—it all costs), we plan to monetize different elements of the website (see 'Plans', below, for more details). Our Vision and Mission

We believe that individuals and communities thrive when they are more well-connected. By aggregating all of the local events into one comprehensive calendar, we contribute to the interconnectedness of the great people of Kosciusko County.

Our Vision

Our mission is to raise awareness among the residents of Kosciusko County about the many events available to them.

Joel Widman

Born and raised in Winona Lake, Joel, as a child, enjoyed riding his bike through the streets and trails, attending the many events his small town had to offer. Throughout high school and college, his passion for events and community involvement grew more and more, as he started a business, collaborated with organizations, and hosted events. After college, he started another business, Anderson The Fish, which is a business development agency.

He, his wife (Liz), and 3 children now live in Nashville, TN, where they enjoy working, playing, and spending lots of time with family and friends. He and his family regularly come back to Winona Lake and enjoy their time with family and friends there as well.

Kosciusko County has always been a place Joel has cherished, and he feels blessed to have the opportunity to work with Kelly on this project that will encourage more and more community involvement for people all over the county.
